James Jimmy
James Jimmy (Chilton) is an independent Coast Salish Carver born and raised in Tseycum First Nation, where he has devoted his passion in the Coast Salish Arts. James has 20 years of experience, which includes apprenticeship under Master Carver Charles Elliot of Tsartlip. His work in Coast Salish art reaches across Canada, to Europe, China, and south to the United States of America. Story Poles, Masks, bowls, are a few examples of these works.
Locally, James Jimmy has worked with local carvers on large orders for organizations such as:
- Victoria International Airport
- Institute of Ocean Science
- Private collectors
- University of Victoria
- Tseycum First Nation
James Jimmy is available for contracting with local education systems to mentor students, share stories, and teach.
