The Clam Garden Network Steering Committee invites you to register for the third event in “Digging into Clam Conversations,” an online series in 2021- 2022 to explore the resurgence of ancestral clam management practices.

The event “Exploring the Ecological Role of Ancestral Clam Gardens will be a panel discussion taking place October 15th, from 10 am-noon.

Our panel will share ecological insights they have learned from studying clam gardens spanning Heiltsuk, Kwakwaka’wakw, and Coast Salish territory. This panel will feature Christine Roberts, an archaeologist from Wei Wai Kum First Nation, archaeologist Dana Lepofsky, and marine ecologist  Anne Salomon, both from Simon Fraser University. At this event, we will hold space for the audience to reflect on these insights, share their thoughts and observations, ask questions, and suggest future lines of research.
