Signing up for the portal is not only a great way to get information about W̱SÁNEĆ’s most important happenings, but it is also an opportunity to win a cash prize. Beginning on December 15th, W̱LC will randomly choose one member of the portal to win a $100 prize. The contest is extended until February 15
Winners will be announced on February 16, all remaining prizes will be drawn at the end of the contest.
W̱LC created the members-only portal to create a safe space to share sensitive information with the community in an easily accessible format. The portal – which is available through W̱LC’s website – is a central hub for all the most important documents, recordings, and updates relevant to W̱SÁNEĆ. Information available includes:
- recordings of community meetings and community engagement sessions;
- full-length copies of community agreements;
- messages to leadership from community members; and
- other confidential information just for community members.
Currently, the members-only portal is full of exclusive videos, recordings, and documents, including:
- “Envisioning W̱SÁNEĆ Fisheries in Two Worlds: Listening to the Stories and Experiences of Fishers,” an exciting community report that shares wisdom from W̱SÁNEĆ knowledge holders;
- Recordings of community meetings about the Indigenous Management Board, Goldstream, and NMCAR;
- Presentations made during the 2023 & 2024 W̱SÁNEĆ Community Engagement Forums on proposed road work at Goldstream;
- An article and videos about the 2024 W̱SÁNEĆ Women’s Gatherings;
- W̱LC’s strategic plan;
- and much more!
To preserve privacy, all materials in the portal are password-protected. W̱LC encourages all W̱SÁNEĆ to sign up for access.
The portal is just one of the many ways W̱LC is carrying out its mandate to engage in “respectful and transparent communications” with community members while promoting “respect for W̱SÁNEĆ culture, traditional practices, and language.”
