IMB is seeking a Research and Marine Planning Analyst

Job Summary

The Indigenous Management Board (IMB) is seeking a Research and Marine Planning Analyst to support a collaborative effort among eleven First Nations in British Columbia. The Analyst will contribute to research, analysis, writing, and strategic recommendations related to IMB’s priority topics and the Feasibility Assessment for the proposed National Marine Conservation Area Reserve (NMCAR) in the southern Strait of Georgia. Responsibilities include researching priority topics, documenting and organizing research materials, synthesizing existing marine plans, preparing reports and presentations, and representing IMB interests in meetings with government agencies.

The ideal candidate will hold a recognized degree in a related field, have a minimum of three years experience in research or policy positions, and possess strong research, strategic thinking, and communication skills. Knowledge of SENĆOŦEN and Hul’q’umi’num cultures, as well as Indigenous governance and planning practices, is essential.

This one-year contract offers 25-40 hours per week at a negotiable rate of $40-$60 per hour, with work primarily from home and occasional in-person meetings. Preference will be given to First Nations candidates as per the Canadian Human Rights Act.
