W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council Launches New Podcast Series

The W̱SÁNEĆ Leadership Council (WLC) is proud to announce the launch of a new podcast series called The W̱SÁNEĆ SQTO. The first episode is available to stream now on Spotify. With content created by W̱SÁNEĆ community members for W̱SÁNEĆ community members, this podcast is specifically designed to offer a deep dive into the current issues impacting the community at large.

In the inaugural episode, “A Message from Gord Elliott, WLC’s Director of Operations,” Elliott narrates his response to concerns expressed by community members on the WLC social media regarding WLC discussions with the Colonial Government on W̱SÁNEĆ people’s inherent rights and Douglas Treaty rights. It begins with the following powerful words:

We will have to change the system because the system will not change on its own. We will have to experience discomfort and backlash. We will have to experience fear and anxiety because these are the feelings that arise when change is taking place. If we are not experiencing these feelings then we are likely being complacent.

The entire inaugural episode of W̱SÁNEĆ SQTO is now available on Spotify and will be coming to Apple Podcasts soon. Click here to listen now, and make sure to rate, subscribe, and leave a review. Then, stay tuned for future episodes exploring ecological preservation, Douglas Treaty Rights, and other topics impacting the W̱SÁNEĆ community.
